TeleTech hires 100s for Starz! (TeleTech Teleservices Inc.)

A flood of 800-number calls after the Feb. 1 launch of Starz!, a new pay movie channel from Encore Media Corp., has prompted Denver-based TeleTech Teleservices Inc. to up its Starz!-related hiring estimate to 700.

TeleTech, which relocated to Denver last year from California, is growing so fast it may need to create a third "telecenter" employing hundreds, possibly in the Denver area.

Already, TeleTech has hired 450 part- or full-time phone salespeople to handle its multimillion-dollar contract with Tele-Communications Inc., the Englewood-based cable operator that is carrying Starz! to 9 million of its subscribers' homes nationwide.
