SHIPPING companies, fed up with delays at Penang Port since it implemented a new computer system, have begun diverting some of their ships to Port Klang.

They claimed that the delays have cost shippers up to US$25,000 (RM159,250) per day in lost revenue.

Shipping agents said terminal operator Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) was simply "sitting on the problem", while millions in losses are being incurred at the expense of the port's reputation.

They also refuted Penang Port's earlier statement that glitches in the upgrading of the North Butterworth Container …
