MALAYSIA's first foreign hypermarket operator, Carrefour, is hopeful of a 6 per cent like-for-like growth in its current financial year ending December 31 2006. This is based on the retailer's performance in the second quarter of the year where sales at its eight outlets grew by 5.9 per cent compared to the same period last year.
"It has become very challenging now as more and more customers are feeling the pinch (of the fuel price increase and electricity tariffs)," managing director Shafie Shamsuddin said.
