Sep. 13--Four cases of West Nile virus have been positively identified in Harrison County and one in Stone County, but the Mississippi Department of Health has reported no other known human cases in the six southernmost counties.
Before the latest report, updated Sept. 8, Harrison County had one West Nile case and Stone had one.
In all, MDH is reporting 40 new confirmed human West Nile cases in the state. The three newly listed Harrison County illnesses are among 22 previously unverified cases that were retested and added to the official list.
