Sep. 13--West Nile virus may have been a factor in the recent deaths of two eastern Jackson County residents, the county's Health Department has reported. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of the virus in both individuals, said Ellen Dorshow-Gordon, department epidemiologist.
Both residents died in August, said Dorshow-Gordon, who declined to say exactly where the 68-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman lived. Both individuals had underlying chronic illnesses, she added.
