TAN Sri Lee Kim Yew, group managing director of property group Country Heights Holdings Bhd, wants to buy the Mint Hotel directly from AmBank (M) Bhd and bypass the auction process.

Lee was the former owner of the three-star hotel via Jennico Associates Sdn Bhd before the firm went into receivership after defaulting on a loan.

The hotel now is being auctioned by Ernst & Young on behalf of Ambank. "I want to sort out this issue with AmBank amicably as I am unhappy with the way the liquidator has handled the bidding process," said Lee.
