Sep. 10--A group of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers has a recipe to help a friend with her mounting medical bills -- hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. They'll be serving up that lunch Friday at the Law Enforcement Center in uptown Charlotte to raise money for cancer-stricken Janice Ballard, a police officer for 27 years. The cost is a donation, organizers say.
