Sep. 7--BILLERICA -- School is back in session, and the crisp kiss of autumn is noticeable in the night air, which can only mean one thing -- the Yankee Doodle Homecoming festivities are quickly approaching.
Fundraising for the 16th annual event, scheduled to run Friday, Sept. 15, through Sunday, Sept. 17, has been sluggish, and with a week left until the opening ceremonies, the Yankee Doodle Committee finds its purse $3,000 lighter than it would like it to be for the weekend, which is expected to cost $35,000, but first-time committee Chairman Joan Parcewski is not worried one bit.
