Ohio home prices decline; official blames rising interest rates, excess homes.

Sep. 6--HAMILTON -- Housing prices are on the decline in Greater Cincinnati and in Ohio, according to a report released today.

Greater Cincinnati home prices fell by about a sixth of one percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the first quarter. And while home prices were up 2.52 percent compared to the same time last year, that appreciation rate is down from 5.5 percent a year ago.

Randy Brockman, president-elect of the Hamilton-Fairfield-Oxford Board of Realtors, said a slowdown in pricing and buying is obvious in Hamilton and Butler County at large.

Brockman blamed the falloff on rising mortgage…
