The No. 01 on Scott Pruett's Riley-Lexus that took the checkered flag at Infineon Raceway was appropriate.
Pruett considers the track in the hills of Northern California to be his racing home, and his victory in the inaugural Sonoma 250 is noteworthy on many levels.
For one, it is his 12th victory in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, tying him with Butch Leitzinger for tops among Daytona Prototype drivers and one shy of the overall record.
But it is also Ganassi Racing's 75th victory in all types of cars. The team has 40 wins in CART, 13 in Grand-Am, nine in the Indy Racing League, five in NASCAR's Nextel Cup, four in the Busch Series and four in ARCA.
Pruett, who lives in nearby Auburn, California, and must have had a cheering section all his own, teamed with Luis Diaz for the car's series-leading fifth victory of the season.
Both Pruett and Diaz are now within 19 points of Jorg Bergmeister for the drivers' championship lead heading to the final race of the season Sept. 2 at Miller Motorsports Park.
