Sep. 7--Where others might have seen doors seemingly sealed shut, an intrepid 14-year-old saw a chance -- albeit a broad one -- took it, and made his educational dreams a reality. Last Monday, Jacob Rosenblum started classes at St. Gregory College Preparatory School -- something that seemed unfathomable to him and his parents a few weeks prior.
When Jacob's basketball coach at Tucson Hebrew Academy gave him a brochure last spring for the private school, which is at 3231 N. Craycroft Road, it just didn't seem to be an option for him. His parents -- Keith Rosenblum and Liz Bradshaw, a teacher in Vail School District's extended learning program for gifted students -- both believe very strongly in the public school system.
