WASHINGTON, D.C.--Epson Portland Inc. has become the latest target of the federal government's drive to extract more taxes from U.S. subsidiaries of multinational corporations.
The Internal Revenue Service is demanding $11 million in additional income taxes from the 8-year-old Hillsboro company, which manufactures printers, computer products and software.
Epson, which employs 625, also does research for its corporate parent, Seiko Epson. Based in Nagano, Japan, Seiko Epson makes computers, printers, printer parts and other products.
