Sep. 6--Lake-Sumter Community College will put on an informational session about its nursing program from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Health Sciences Center's auditorium at the Leesburg campus off U.S. Highway 441. The college's Educator Preparation Institute also will offer informational sessions from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 16, 23 and 30 in the library at the Leesburg and Sumter County in Sumterville campuses and in Building II at the South Lake campus in Clermont. The alternative teacher certification program, a six-month program for people with a bachelor's degree who want to prepare themselves to teach in public schools, is designed to meet the state teacher shortage.
