Sep. 6--Two months after Zachary Cook's death in a Saginaw in-home day-care center, the Tarrant County medical examiner ruled Tuesday that the 5-month-old died of sudden infant death syndrome.
Such findings typically mean a day-care operator would not face criminal charges. Saginaw police Capt. Nancy Wright said officers were not aware of the ruling and would meet today to discuss whether charges would be filed.
The ruling didn't make sense to Zachary's mother. Carrie Cook said her baby died June 30 because Joey's Daycare didn't monitor him in a playpen inside a bathroom.
