TSO sale looking imminent
Laura Smith
The Stationery Office (TSO) is understood to be preparing for a second round of offers after the private equity owner of the publisher of government documents -- including Hansard debates and The Highway Code -- put it up for sale.
Apax, which bought TSO for [pounds sterling]82m seven years ago, is understood to have given investment bank UBS a mandate to advise on the sale in April. The price tag is thought to be between [pounds sterling]100m and [pounds sterling]120m.
According to reports in The Financial Times, Apax has whittled down the number of bidders to five -- two trade and three private equity.
The newspaper said the bidding could go to a third round as TSO was concerned about giving away too much information to trade buyers.
