Sep. 5--Smoldering charcoal left over from a weekend barbecue sparked a two-alarm fire that damaged a cafeteria building at a Mountain View Catholic high school early this morning, the school's principal said.
"It was an accident, which we are relieved to find out," St. Francis High School Principal Patty Tennant said. Two different groups used the campus for barbecues during the Labor Day weekend, Tennant said. During the clean-up process, some coals that weren't dead accidentally ended up in a plastic bin next to the loading dock for the kitchen, she said. Those coals eventually caught fire again.
