Sep. 3--Huntingtowne Farms has a Fourth of July parade, an annual picnic, an Easter egg hunt, and the annual yard sale Saturday. It also has Jessica Braun. "It's people like Jessica that really make a neighborhood great," says Christin Boone. Boone and Braun are two parts of a south Charlotte community that has managed to maintain its identity and a close-knit feeling while much changes around it. An affluent townhouse community is being built nearby, and the explosive development of SouthPark is a short distance away. To the west, the new light rail line is spurring changes along the South Boulevard corridor.

But life goes on in Huntingtowne Farms, a sprawling neighborhood…
