Moscow, 31 August: Sergey Ivanov, an experienced journalist and specialist in international affairs, has been appointed as the new chief of the Russian External Intelligence Service press office.
He was born in Moscow in 1959 and after two years' conscript service in the Soviet army enrolled at the faculty of journalism at Moscow State University. Upon graduation in 1985 he worked at the USSR State Committee for Television and Radio and then on Komsomolskaya Pravda's international desk.
