Sep. 2--Packing trendy pellet pistols has gotten students at three Charlotte-Mecklenburg middle schools suspended during the first week of school. Students at the schools -- Carmel Middle in south Charlotte, Eastway Middle in east Charlotte and Bradley Middle in Huntersville -- have been caught bringing unloaded Airsoft pellet guns to school to show friends, said CMS spokeswoman Nora Carr. The guns, which shoot hard plastic pellets that can leave bruises and welts, fall under the district's "zero tolerance" weapons policy, she said.
