With state and federal No Child Left Behind test results came the news that one school was no longer targeted by the government for improvement and another school was halfway there.
The Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Report is part of the No Child Left Behind and measures school performance by participation, proficiency in math and English and growth in proficiency. A school receiving federal funds that does not make AYP for two years in a row is designated a Program Improvement school and must improve its standing two years in a row within five years.
The Academic Performance Index (API) report is a state test that requires growth in academic achievement based on last year's test scores.
