Gdansk, 31 August: The fact that Poland is now independent and has been in structures linking it with our sphere of civilization - with NATO and the European Union - is a great success of Solidarity and its people, President Lech Kaczynski said in Gdansk today during ceremonies marking the 26th anniversary of the signing of August Agreements [in 1981].
