Alarm bells may have been sounded over a looming power crisis but state energy officials said plans to address the problem are proceeding smoothly.

State-owned National Power Corporation (Napocor) yesterday said it is implementing key measures to ensure the country will not experience a power supply deficiency by 2011.

Napocor's announcement came after Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Romulo L. Neri said next year will be "worry time" for the government as it seeks to avert a power crisis similar to what happened in the early 1990s. Among others, Mr. Neri said the …
