Good news for cc:Mail 2.0 users who work away from the office: You can now dump your DOS-based copy of cc:Mail Remote for MS-DOS. And good riddance. Lotus' new cc:Mail Mobile for Windows 2.0 is nearly identical to the office-bound version, sporting the same Windows interface, tool icons, text searching, and rules. This is a slick application that lets you dial your cc:Mail post office when you're out of the office or connect directly through the LAN when you're in. cc:Mail Mobile is easy to set up and use, especially if you are currently a cc:Mail 2.0 user. After using cc:Mail Mobile for a few days, my only major beef is that it's difficult to manage my messages on two systems: my portable IBM ThinkPad and my desktop system.

The only obvious differences between cc:Mail 2.0 and cc:Mail Mobile are a few new tool icons and menu options -- those needed for mobile …
