Westhampton Super Market in Richmond, Va., closes after 30 years.

Aug. 30--The Westhampton Super Market, a neighborhood institution in the city's West End for 30 years, has closed.

But the market's landlord hopes to find another grocery operator to take over the 10,000-square-foot store on Patterson Avenue near Libbie Avenue. The Westhampton operated there since 1976, and it was an A&P grocery for 25 years before that.

"This is a loss for the neighborhood because it has been such a fixture for ages," said L. Clarke Jones Jr., president of Jones Realty and Construction Corp., which owns the building. "The Westhampton had an excellent reputation. People are looking to have something back …
