Section: General News - Defamation case: The Bangkok South Criminal Court on August 28 accepted a defamation charge, lodged by former deputy Bangkok governor Samart Ratchapolsitte, against veteran politicians Samak Sundaravej and Dusit Siriwan for their comments made during their political talk show that allegedly implicated Mr Samart in a high-profile construction project bidding scam, the Bangkok Post reports.

The scam together with the controversial fire-fighting truck deal cost Mr Samart his position as deputy governor earlier this year.
