I'm From Barcelona We're From Barcelona (Mute)
James Jam, New Music Editor, NME
"The first time I heard I'm From Barcelona I thought they were silly. The second and third times I laughed until I needed the toilet. The fourth time I realised that, in We're From Barcelona, they'd written a song so inherently wonderful, I suspected it had come from the the Creator itself. Frankly, the word `wow' fails to explain the velocity with which they make my heart beat."
Fedde Le Grande Put Your Hands Up For Detroit (Data)
Dave Pearce, Radio One
"Fedde Le Grande's Put Your Hands Up For Detroit is a very catchy electro house tinged floorfiller by a young Dutch producer originally picked up by UK label CR2 and now signed on to Ministry. In my opinion, this has been one of the biggest dance tracks of the summer. I've heard it at clubs and events that I've played across Europe and it's big in all the resorts from Spain to Greece. It's a very minimalist track and it's hugely infectious. If radio is brave enough to embrace this record, which is very much the sound of now, I think this could go all the way to number one."
