The demand for online air tickets has been increasing driven by increase in customers looking for bargains on low-cost carriers.

The estimated average online travel transactions have increased by about 4 times to 7,95,000 a month in 2005-2006 from 2,07,000 in 2003-2004. With this, the businesses of online travel portals such as MakeMyTrip, Yatra, TravelGuru, ClearTrip and the travel section of IndiaTimes have also been growing.
