PageAhead Software has sold its InfoPublisher product to a long-time database-publishing vendor, Step2, Inc. The change should not have any immediate impact on InfoPublisher's distribution or pricing, and Step2 said that it would begin adding formatting features that the program has lacked in the past.

The challenge. Database publishing -- the ability to take data from external databases, format it at the last minute (or better yet, keep live links to the data to capture last minute changes) and output it as a document either printed or electronic -- is an area of growing interest. We saw numerous database publishing products for the Mac at Seybold Paris '93 last year, and other solutions crop up regularly.
