Aug. 25--More than 4,500 children throughout the Akron-Canton area are starting the school year in new buildings. The biggest -- and most expensive -- project by far is the new GlenOak High School in Plain Township, with a price tag of about $49 million. The brick, steel and glass building brings all the district's 2,000-plus high school students under one roof. "It provides one community gathering place," said Plain Superintendent Christopher Smith of the building, which includes a 900-seat auditorium and a branch of the Stark County District Library.
