Aug. 24--DENVER - The U.S. Forest Service agreed Wednesday to bar logging before Oct. 18 in a large Conejos County timber-cutting project that opponents want killed. The compromise agreement eliminated the need for a temporary restraining order that opponents sought. The temporary resolution of the start date for logging in the first phase of the project, 289 acres, came during a U.S. District Court hearing on the opponents' request for the restraining order.
