Aug. 23--DENVER - Opponents of a large logging project in Conejos County are asking for a restraining order to temporarily stop the project.

A hearing on the request is set for 2:30 p.m. today in U.S. District Court in Denver. The 2,282-acre project in the Rio Grande National Forest is two miles northwest of Cumbres Pass, between Antonito and Chama, N.M. Opponents, in a new court filing, want a temporary restraining order "prohibiting the (U.S.) Forest Service from taking further steps to implement" the project until Judge Phillip Figa "can review and resolve the merits" in the opponents' lawsuit.
