Aug. 21--FORT SILL -- Maj. Lance Giddens spent the past 12 months trying to be the best father and husband he possibly could be.
He sent roses to his wife, e-mailed her daily and reserved each Sunday to visit with his three boys.
They shared laughs, details about each other's lives, and at the end of each conversation, knelt in prayer.
Giddens did so from half a world away at Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq.
