Aug. 20--A heating and air conditioning system that uses the earth's energy is becoming increasingly popular in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia and may become a necessity as energy bills continue to climb, officials said.
"This is probably going to be necessary for all school systems," said Dr. Rick Denning, director of schools for Cleveland, Tenn. "They're a lot cheaper to operate."
Geothermal heat pumps are the latest trend in heating and air conditioning systems, officials said.
