Aug. 20--Maggie Grey will walk through the front door of Oakdale Elementary School on Friday morning and add a link to a historic bond that stretches back more than a century in the northwest Charlotte community.
Maggie, 6, a first-grader, begins the fifth generation from her family to attend classes in Oakdale, where her great-great-great grandfather built the first school in 1904.
"It seems only natural for her to be here," her mother, Jennifer Grey, said. "Our family has a lot of history tied up in this place."
