The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has identified disaster risk reduction as a major impetus for sustainable development.
Reducing disaster risks, NADMO says, will minimize the vulnerability of Ghanaians to disasters, and decrease the adverse impact of such disasters on the socio-economic development of the people.
As part of measures being taken to reduce disaster risks, NADMO is developing a framework called "National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction" which is aimed at providing guidelines for better co-ordination in the prevention of disasters.
