Aug. 13--KEY WEST -- The incoming sixth-graders at Horace O'Bryant Middle School won't get the chance to launch model gunpowder rockets with Mr. B. After only two years in Key West, the popular science teacher, Kurt Barbuscio, realized his $40,000 teacher's salary would never allow him to buy a house in the skyrocketing local real estate market. So Mr. B, 36, resigned at the end of the school year to return to his native Rhode Island. The kids will miss out on being taught by the passionate, tall man who raised private funds for special projects. Barbuscio said he will miss the tropical lifestyle and "especially the wonderful people, like the eccentric chicken lady who helped out in my classroom."
