Aug. 11--Principals at two west Charlotte high schools, Harding and Berry, are leaving, giving Superintendent Peter Gorman his first chance to name new leaders for schools facing turnaround pressure from the governor. Curtis Carroll, Harding's principal for the past seven years, is taking an administrative job managing principals in Jacksonville, Fla. David Baldaia, the only principal Berry Academy of Technology has had since it opened in 2002, is retiring. Their departures mean at least two schools face leadership changes as school begins. Gorman said Thursday that more schools could be affected if he moves current Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools principals into those schools.
