A simmering conflict is brewing inside the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) between the party's majority and vibrant new generation and the elders.

The party's young Turks claim that they don't see hope for survival of the party and that the old guards are doing near to nothing to give the party a future.

Conflict has also emerged in what the new generation members claim is the symbiotic relationship between the state and the party, a factor they claim is not helping the party grow independently.
