Andretti still interested
After finishing third in this year's Indianapolis 500, Michael Andretti said he needed a month to decide if he will have another one-race comeback in 2007. Two months have passed, and he is still interested. "Give me another month,'' Andretti said at Michigan. "It's one thing to decide to do it, it's another to put something together [sponsorship-wise].''
Detroit GP could return
Roger Penske is making progress on bringing an IRL race to the Belle Isle circuit in Detroit. He was to speak with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and is set to submit a proposal to the city for a multiyear contract. "I feel real good about it,'' said Penske, who wants a race for Labor Day weekend next year. "I should have an answer in the next 30 to 60 days.''
Hill vs. Mansell
1996 F1 champion Damon Hill is expected to join the Grand Prix Masters series at Silverstone. Hill, 45 (the minimum age for GPM), said, "I'm tempted. I've spoken with Nigel Mansell about the series, and it sounds exciting. I spent most of my early career being a test monkey for Nigel, so I'd love to get out there and give him a run for his money.''
