Addressing the second Board of Directors meeting of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority in Karachi the other day, Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Nourez Shakoor Khan is reported to have given the happy tidings of imposition of a blanket ban on the manufacture and sale of sub-standard goods in the country.

Elaborating on the contemplated action, which has been overly belated from all indications, he said that all industries, including cement, mineral water, ghee and cable, naming a few, would have to meet the requirements of the PSQCA standards.
