Taiwan's Trade Surplus With China Surged in First Half.

Taipei, Aug. 7, 2006 (CENS)--Taiwan's trade surplus with mainland China stood at US$31.06 billion in the first half of this year, a sharp rise of 21% from the corresponding figure of US$25.6 billion recorded last year, according to the statistics released by mainland China's Ministry of Commerce

In the first half, Taiwan's contracted investments in the mainland increased by US$745 million from a year earlier to reach US$5.52 billion, but invest projects realized in the period stood at only US$1.034 billion, a slight drop of US$144 million from US$1.178 billion posted in the same period of last year
