The 2Ist Annual Conference on Medieval and Renaissance Music (or, more familiarly, Yr 21ain Gynhadiedd Flynyddol o Gerddoriaeth y Canol Oesoedd a'r Dadeni) was held at the University of Wales, Bangor, on 22-5 Ju'y 1993, under the smooth and imaginative direction of John and Sally Harper.

The call had gone out especially seeking new research on Byrd and Ockeghem, and both were well served by long and varied sessions. Much of the Byrd session (occasioned by the composer's 45oth birthday) focused on his relations with his contemporaries- Roger Bowers re-evaluated an important and controversial bit of information on Byrd's early life, concluding that Byrd had been a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral around …
