Aug. 5--CERES -- Teachers and school administrators here can start shelving their hard hats.
The Ceres Unified School District is closing in on the final months of its expansion, a mostly state-funded building boom that netted a new high school, five new elementary schools and upgrades to 10 campuses at a cost of $132 million.
That's $30 million more than Modesto City Schools spent on Enochs High School, a state-of-the-art school scheduled to open this month.
"I'm very pleased with what we've done," Ceres Unified Superintendent Walt Hanline said. "It's a miracle that we were able to do in basically 36 months what others would take 10 years to do."
