One day, Anansi the spider came upon Brother Tiger devouring his lunch of gungo peas, and rice.
"Hello there, Brother Tiger," Anansi said, rubbing his black belly. "Would you spare some peas for a hungry friend?"
Brother Tiger let out a loud belly laugh. A gungo pea flew into Anansi's eye.
"No way, mahn!" Brother Tiger said. "These are my peas. And this is my jungle. You best be gettin' along, mahn. You best be gettin' along."
"Best be gettin' along!" squawked Kling Kling Bird from the mango tree, dropping a fruit on the spider's head.
Anansi rubbed his noggin, cursing. "Brother, you get all the respect around here," he said to Brother Tiger. "We have Tiger lilies, Tiger moths, even Tiger stories," for Brother Tiger was the keeper of all of the jungle tales. "Why can't I have something named after me?"
Brother Tiger licked his paws. "'Cause you crawl around in the dirt all day, mahn. You're not worth a jackfruit seed."
