This fourth edition of Professor John Brocklehurst's internationally renowned textbook introduces Ray Tallis from Manchester and H. M. Fillit of New York to the team. The book has virtually been rewritten, although it maintains its previous format. Aiming for two markets the editors decided to use American spelling in American chapters and vice versa, and to compensate for this by including the alternative spelling in parentheses (similarly for SI units and mg). I would have preferred to see the common English from the US terminology in brackets.

The book is a monumental effort, well written, with good subheadings and it should be in every department of geriatric …
