PUTRAJAYA, Aug 1 Asia Pulse - From November, all foreign workers registered in Malaysia are required to have workers' card embedded with security features including biometric fingerprint system which cannot be forged.
Home Minister Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said the cards would be colour-coded according to employment sectors to enable the workers to move around in the course of performing their job.
"By next year, I hope all foreign workers in this country will use the hi-tech workers' card," he told reporters after meeting the Expatriate, Welfare and Foreign Job Minister of Bangladesh Md Lutfor Rahman Khan at his office here Monday.
Currently, there are 1.9 million foreign workers in Malaysia, many of whom are Indonesians.
