AS THE CATHOLIC Church prepares to celebrate the feast of St. Philomena on Aug. 11, it is time to remember that besides being the wonder worker, she was also named patroness and protectress of the Living Rosary by Pope Gregory XVI. She is also called patroness of the children of Mary.

The Universal Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena was founded in Lyon, France by Venerable Pauline Jaricot in 1826. The Living Rosary is a method of praying the Rosary with 15 people assigned one mystery each. This way, a decade is prayed while working or walking anytime of the day or night.

To join the Living Rosary, write to the National Center of the Living Rosary at 430 Mayon St., QC. Fr. Jojo Zerrudo is spiritual director.
