Jul. 28--Maybe you weren't an athlete in high school or college.

Maybe you didn't even want to be one.

A few years later, though, you found yourself regretting the fact that you hadn't tried competitive sports. You assumed it was too late, the chance had passed.

Well, meet Kathleen Jobes -- a career woman and 36-year-old wife and mother of two. Not so long ago, she was the high school girl who wasn't into sports.

Now, she's among the qualifiers for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the marathon.

"You meet people I went to high school with, and I was not athletic at all," said Jobes, an Emmaus graduate who now lives in Bethlehem. "I went out for track ... but I just stopped. I wasn't one of the people [the coaches] were focusing on, so I figured maybe I shouldn't be doing this."
