Jul. 26--Daytime television hasn't been a priority for Vancouver School of Beauty owner Jean Banks. But she made sure to catch "As the World Turns" on July 19. That's when her daughter, Bonnie Root, began a recurring role on the 50-year-old soap opera.

Banks is grateful her daughter's character appears to be upstanding. Root portrays Eve, older sister of the troubled Maddie Coleman. Root told Banks that she'll be working in New York through at least Aug. 8.

Longtime customers may remember Root. Her first job, at age 15, was the beauty school's receptionist. Now 33, the Los Angeles resident's credits include the television …
