Jul. 26--A 65-year-old Statesville woman has been charged in the slayings of two couples last year, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday night. Barbara Ann Evans faces four counts of murder in connection with the deaths of James and Ruth Delet Powell, who were killed in January 2005, and of Don and Sue Barker, who died in September.

All four victims were shot in their homes. The Sheriff's Office did not provide a motive for the killings or say whether the suspect knew the victims. A news conference is scheduled this morning in Statesville, where authorities are expected to release more details.
